Eleven Madison Park (New York), Enoteca Pinchiorri (Florence, Italy), Don Alfonso 1890 (Amalfi, Italy).
Most underrated wine region in the world:
Mount Etna, Sicily.

Most memorable wine experience:
Drinking a magnum of Domaine Leflaive Batard-Montrachet 1996 with Angelo Gaja his wife and two daughters and just me in Verona.

Desert Island Wine:
Errr...just one bottle? Would I be rescued shortly or would I die? If it is just ONE bottle...it would have to be Champagne, it would have to be cold and it would have to be vintage....so, Krug 1996 from magnum (that way there is more).

Favorite Wine Lists:
Ristorante Rabaja (Barbaresco, Piemonte), La Ciau del Tornavento (Treiso, Piemonte), Le Cafe du Passage (Paris, France).

Most underrated wine region in the world:
Jerez, Spain.

Caleb Ganzer

Sommelier (Eleven Madison Park NYC)

Quick Bio:
  • Chef Sommelier at DB Bistro Moderne (NYC)
  • Sommelier at Daniel (NYC)
  • Sommelier at DBGB (NYC)
  • Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers)
Most memorable wine experience:
Chef’s Tasting Menu and Premium Wine Pairing at Charlie Trotter’s in 2008. For some strange reason they had Château Haut-Brion 1982 open and it was paired with the main beef course. I can still taste the flavors to this day.

Desert Island Wine:
I will have to find a cold natural spring to keep my Pierre Peters Les Chetillons 2004 nice and cold.

Favorite Wine Lists:
DANIEL (NYC - Can’t find a better Burgundy list in the USA), Reynard (Brooklyn, NY), Ten Bells (NYC).

Most underrated wine region in the world:
Roussillon, France.

Great wine is better shared.
