Reviews 92 points Burghound "This is textbook Blanchot with its ultra elegant, subtly spiced fruit and barely medium weight, superbly detailed, wonderfully mineral laden flavors that seem as though they're chiseled from liquid rock. (AM)" 95 points John Gilman "The nose on the ’99 Blanchots is classic, as it shows notes of candied lemon peel, licorice, beeswax, spring flowers and a beautiful base of complex and crystalline minerality. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and quite rich on the attack, with great framing acids, a rock solid mid-palate, and stunning focus and cut on the long, snappy finish. (JG)"

The Raveneau brothers - Jean-Marie and Bernard in the vineyards of Domaine Francois Raveneau

About Francois Raveneau

There is Chablis, and then there is Domaine François Raveneau. The appellation’s benchmark producer may only bottle a miniscule 3,000 cases per year, but it nevertheless manages to boast an impressive array of terroirs, including five premier cru and three grand cru vineyards. Celebrated for their consistently high quality and astounding age-worthiness, the wines of Domaine François Raveneau are true collectibles.

François Raveneau’s sons, Bernard and Jean-Marie, run the family estate today, with the help of Bernard's daughter, Isabelle. Together they continue to conjure the same magic as their father by following the family traditions, farming in some of Chablis’ most prized Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Unlike many of their neighbors, the brothers harvest entirely by hand. The Raveneau winemaking style includes a gentle pressing, fermentation in tank, while allowing the lees to settle and saving only the very finest before racking the wines into barrel for 18 months in neutral oak barrels and feuillettes. Penetrating and stony, aromatic and intense, these are among the finest Chardonnays in the world.
