Reviews 93 points Wine Advocate "Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru from Christophe Roumier has a ripe redcurrant, kirsch and vanilla-tinged bouquet, high-toned but not volatile, generous if missing some mineralite. The palate is defined by its very smooth texture: seamless and so lithe in the mouth. There is impressive purity here and while you could describe this as showy (not an adjective that I often apply to Christophe's wines), that is meant in a positive way. There is the substance to suggest this will age with style -- a sophisticated and thoroughly enjoyable Bonnes-Mares to savor. (NM)" 94 points Vinous "Bright medium red. Knockout high-pitched aromas of red berries, peony and orange peel. Boasts compelling subtle density and sharp definition to its taut flavors of blackberry, violet, licorice, spices and minerals. In its juicy sappiness, this is like chewing on a ripe cherry. A classic Bonnes-Mares, offering superb volume without any undue weight. And an outstanding example of what phenolically ripe fruit could make in this cool vintage. (ST)" 95 points Burghound "This is quite floral with plenty of earth and assorted spice elements adding interest to the very fresh mix of green tea and red and dark berry fruit scents. There is outstanding power and concentration to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a robust mouth feel and ample minerality, all wrapped in a moderately austere and hugely long finish. This is a big, indeed even opulent but balanced wine that is clearly built for longer-term cellaring. (AM" 95 points John Gilman "...The bouquet is a youthfully stellar constellation of red and black cherries, sweet dark berries, coffee bean, woodsmoke, gamebirds, a brilliantly complex base of soil and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and still very primary, with a rock solid core, stunning soil drive on the backend, ripe tannins and a very, very long, tangy and utterly classic finish... About Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier

The eminent Christophe Roumier manages the prestigious Domaine George Roumier, a Burgundy powerhouse known for its premier and grand crus that garner the admiration of sommeliers and collectors alike. Established in 1924, the Domaine's superior fruit springs from Chambolle Musigny's stellar terroirs – Le Musigny, Les Amoureuses, and Bonnes Mares – and three distinguished parcels cultivated en métayage: Echezeaux, Ruchottes, and Charmes Chambertin. Despite Christophe's insistence on pruning rigorously to ensure low yields, the resultant wines are opulent, concentrated, and marked by a unique balance of power and restraint.

With an unswerving dedication to quality, Christophe personally sorts the harvest, mostly de-stemming the grapes based on vintage conditions and allowing them to macerate in oak cuves at low temperatures. The must, punched down twice daily, ferments on native yeasts in both stainless steel and concrete. The aging of wines is handled judiciously according to their crus, utilizing a modest 15% new oak for the village wines and reaching a maximum of 50% for the grandiose Bonnes Mares grand cru. These expert techniques result in wines that are enchanting, seductive, and notably age-worthy.

Currently, Domaine George Roumier spreads across 11.52 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Corton-Charlemagne. Here, Christophe leverages his intelligence and winemaking prowess to produce wines that are not just consistently delicious but carry profound elegance - a testament to the ancient craft of winemaking.

Maintaining a minimal dependence on new wood, Christophe pursues and accomplishes remarkable precision in his wines. Thus, the limited production of globally renowned crus such as Bonnes-Mares, Chambolle-Musigny, Charlemagne Grand Cru, and Ruchottes-Chambertin, render these offerings as coveted collectibles. Domaine George Roumier, therefore, continues to stand as an undeniable icon of Côte de Nuits, showcasing an unrivaled blend of heritage, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
