Reviews 91-93 points Wine Advocate "The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Gruenchers has a very able bouquet with red cherries, crushed strawberry and wilted rose petal scents that blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, a crisp line of acidity, plenty of energy and a vibrant, ripe and rounded finish that seems to caress the senses. Bon vin, as they say. (NM)" 90-92 points Vinous "Medium red. Blueberry lifted by a floral topnote on the alluring nose. Juicy and spicy on the palate, offering lovely clarity of flavor. Not nearly as thick as the Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes but seduces with its balance of sweetness and acidity. A seriously structured wine with nothing austere about it. (ST)"

About Domaine Fourrier

Domaine Fourrier is a winery that embodies the essence of terroir-driven winemaking. The estate's Pinot Noirs are a testament to the fact that great wine starts in the vineyard. The Domaine's vineyards, situated in some of Gevrey-Chambertin's most fabled sites, are home to 60 to 100-year-old vines that are the backbone of the Domaine's wines. These ancient vines, with deep root systems, accentuate the unique terroir-driven character that is synonymous with Domaine Fourrier.

Fourth-generation owner, Jean-Marie Fourrier, who took over in 1994, is a winemaker with meticulous attention to detail. He is obsessive about fruit quality and will sell any grapes that don't meet his high standards, including grapes coming from vines less than 30 years old. His top wines include Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques, Chambertin, Combe aux Moines, and Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses.

In the cellar, Jean-Marie Fourrier uses a minimalist approach, allowing the grapes to express the unique character of the crus they come from. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged in mostly used oak barrels for an extended period, resulting in wines with superb balance, enchanting elegance, finesse, and intense aromatic complexity. These wines are undeviating in superiority and, as the Wine Advocate notes, "there can be no overlooking either the consistently excellent results Jean-Marie Fourrier achieves, nor the extreme paucity and remarkable quality" of these wines.
