Reviews 91-93 points Wine Advocate "Offering up aromas of buttered apples, pear, praline and beeswax, the 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or is medium to full-bodied, broad-shouldered and reserved, with impressive power and chalky extract, balanced by succulent acids… (WK)" 91-94 points Burghound "Hints of spice and petrol add breadth to the ripe and mildly exotic aromas of white peach, mandarin orange and discreet wood influence. The bigger and richer medium weight plus flavors possess excellent mid-palate density while displaying excellent depth and drive on the focused and powerful finish. Impressive. (AM)" 93 points John Gilman "The 2017 Goutte d’Or chez Lafon has to be the strongest vintage yet that I have tasted of this cuvee since the vines were replanted. The bouquet is pure, composed and absolutely classic, offering up scents of apple, pear, iodine, chalky soil elements, hazelnuts, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is refined, pure and full, with very good mid-palate depth, bright acids, lovely soil signature and a very long, very bouncy and vibrant finish... (JG)"

Dominique Lafon of Domaine des Comtes Lafon in the vineyard

About Domaine des Comtes Lafon

Burgundy aficionados need no introduction to Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Now into its fourth generation with Dominique Lafon leading the charge, this historic estate has spent the last 30 years climbing to the top - earning its title as “the world’s best producer of white wine” (Decanter Magazine).

When Dominique took over in 1984, the vineyard holdings were spread across Meursault, Volnay, Monthélie, and Puligny-Montrachet, with most under contract. But once those agreements expired, this tour de force got to work. He took complete control back of the vineyards, implemented organic and biodynamic practices, and built a respected reputation for honoring the terroir of each vineyard. Best known for his whites, these wines range from round and seductive to robust and serious, to a signature finesse in his Montrachet Grand Cru.

Ever since Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate declared, “Dominique Lafon is on fire, in a zone, on top of his game. He’s never made better wines, and he improves with each passing vintage,” collectors worldwide have been jumping at the opportunity to acquire these prized bottlings.
