2018 Chapelle St. Theodoric Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Guigasse #154434798
Reviews 94 points Vinous "Limpid ruby-red. Ripe red fruit, floral and exotic spice qualities on the expansive, mineral-accented nose. Juicy, polished and alluringly sweet, showing seamless texture and offering intense Chambord, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors that convey a suave blend of power and delicacy. The mineral and floral notes resonate on a strikingly long and precise finish that's given shape by fine-grained, well-knit tannins. The lovely bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of raspberries, bonfire, spit-roasted venison, complex soil tones, lovely spice elements, pepper and a lovely touch of youthful stem tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and complex, with beautiful mid-palate depth, ripe, buried tannins, tangy acids and great length and grip on the youthful, but already very poised and classy finish. This is great juice in the making! (JG)"
