Reviews 94 points Burghound "Hints of mineral reduction and matchstick character suffuse the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia blossom and spiced pear that are trimmed in wisps of wood and lemon rind. The super-sleek, intense and nicely detailed flavors possess good richness on the citrusy and beautifully long finale where moderate warmth slowly emerges. (AM)"
The Ramonet brothers, Jean-Claude and Noel, currently oversee the 17-hectare property, which boasts a diverse range of vineyards from village level to Premier Cru and Grand Cru. This is thanks to the foresight of Jean-Claude's grandfather, who diligently acquired premium vineyards in the 1920s. The winemaking at Domaine Ramonet remains true to tradition, allowing the region's unique terroir to shine through in the wines. The addition of aging in French oak barrels and lees contact imparts a subtle creaminess to the wine, perfectly balancing the stony and citrusy flavors.
These wines are known for their aging potential, with some bottles capable of developing for over 50 years. While the highly sought-after Premier and Grand Cru bottlings are relatively rare, even the village-level wines are a collector's favorite and showcase the true excellence of white Burgundy.
