Reviews 91 points Wine Advocate "The 2018 Brouilly Cuvee Vieilles Vignes displays aromas of cherries, red berries, candied peel and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that leads with a satiny attack, quickly segueing into a firmer, more structured mid-palate and finish that's quite unlike Dutraive's wines from Fleurie, though it shares their charm and drinkability in its more burly, muscular register. Jean-Louis Dutraive of Domaine de la Grand'Cour in Fleurie Beaujolais

About Jean-Louis Dutraive

Jean-Louis Dutraive, affectionately known as the "heart of Beaujolais" among his peers, is more than just a skilled winemaker. Beyond his exceptional wines, this humble vigneron is a true neighbor in the true sense, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge on natural farming.

With roots in Brouilly, the Dutraive family relocated to Fleurie in 1969, and Jean-Louis took the reins of the winemaking operation in 1989. He now oversees production at three prized vineyard sites: Clos de la Grand’Cour, Chapelle des Bois, and Champagne. Each vineyard imparts its own unique character to the house's renowned Gamay wines, known for their rich, floral, spicy, and age-worthy qualities. Chapelle des Bois boasts elegant florals and freshness, Clos de la Grand’Cour displays muscular fruit and exotic spices, and Champagne's pink granite soils and century-old vines produce mineral-driven wine with silky red fruit flavors.

Their bold and complex flavors make them a delectable treat, perfect for enjoying with or without food!
