Burgundy Lovers and Unicorn Hunters, you can’t miss out on these! We’ve uncovered a treasure trove of perfectly stored wines from the venerable Domaine Daniel Rion, dating back to 2008. The estate was a surefire address for deeply flavored and sumptuous wines until Daniel’s passing and the dissolution of the winery in 2018. His legacy lives on in these precious remaining bottles – incredibly soulful, powerfully built, and full of rich fruit, with an electric mineral elegance. Provenance is impeccable – all the wines are direct from the domaine, and have been stored in their importer’s warehouse until now. What’s more, pricing is hardly higher than initial release! With today’s Burgundy prices, there’s not a better deal to be found anywhere, and certainly not for wines at this level with 10-15 years of age. Every bottle we’ve opened has been exceptional – what a swan song!

Domaine Daniel Rion was founded in 1955, when Daniel inherited two hectares of vines in Vosne-Romanee. The grapes were sold off to negociants until the late 70s, when his children joined the estate, bringing with them new vineyard sources and a desire to produce wines under their own label. The quality of the wines soared, even as the estate grew to 18 hectares, thanks to a newfound focus on vineyard care. Vines here average over 40 years of age, with some sites like Echezeaux pushing 65, all selected for their compact, small-berried bunches. Intensity of fruit is balanced with great freshness and framed with well-integrated oak. With age, the polished, concentrated cores have unfurled, offering up unending layers of complexity – simply perfect!
