x2020 Whites

The 2020 vintage is shaping up to be an excellent one for whites in Burgundy and the Loire. The wines are fleshly, energetic, and ripe - a tightrope of tension between acid and fruit. 

La Soufrandiere is somewhat under the radar, but that is changing fast. When Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume, or the Bret Brothers as they are fondly called, took over, they treated "each vine like [their] own child" (WA208), dramatically decreased yields, and converted to organic and biodynamic farming. Critics quickly caught on with Wine Advocate touting numerous releases as "outstanding." Their 2020s are seriously delicious and not to be missed.

Eleni and Edouard Vocoret are part of Chablis's exciting new generation starting to take over. Edouard comes from the powerhouse Chablis family, Domaine Vocoret, and Eleni cut her teeth alongside the best - as assistant winemaker to the legendary Vincent Dauvissat. They have some excellent vineyard sites (with Grand Crus to come!), and the wines are sublime - fresh, textured, and mineral - true classics in the making!

One of the "best producers of Sancerre" (Decanter) - the ethos at Domaine Vincent Pinard is great wine is made in the vineyard, which is why they've been organically farming their limestone soils for nearly 15 years. They are hands-off in the winery, allowing the high quality of their fruit to speak for itself. If you want your Sancerre to be pure, racy, and expressive, then you need these iconic 2020s in your cellar.
