How long will processing take?

In Stock orders going out via Local Same Day placed before 2pm (pst) on business days will go out the same day.  Weather permitting, In Stock orders going out via FedEx, Climate Controlled Ground and Temperature Controlled typically ship within 1-2 business days unless requested otherwise.  We always do what we can to make sure your order won’t spend the weekend in a non-temperature controlled logistics hub and in order to facilitate this, we may hold your order for shipment the following week unless you tell us not to. 

We do not fulfill partial orders by default, so if your order contains a combination of In Stock and In Transit/Pre Arrival items, we'll automatically hold the In Stock items until everything is ready.  If you wish to receive your In Stock items in advance of your In Transit and/or Pre Arrival items, we do ask that you place two separate orders.  If you forget to place two separate orders, but still want to receive your In Stock items first, please send us an email at team@sommpicks.com and we’ll take care of it for you.

How long will transit take?

Transit time always depends on what delivery method* you select and where your order is going, but here’s a quick cheat sheet:

• Local Same Day: business days only, estimated arrival by 5:30pm
• FedEx Ground/Home Delivery: 1-2 business days
• FedEx 2-Day: 2 business days
• FedEx Priority Overnight: 1 business day
• Climate Controlled Ground: 1-3 weeks
• Temperature Controlled: 3-5 weeks

What is the difference between “Climate Controlled Ground” and “Temperature Controlled” shipment?

Climate Controlled Ground: Your order will go out via temperature-controlled freight to the carrier’s hub in your region.  Once your order reaches the hub, the order will go out via Ground for last-mile delivery to you (which will take one business day).  You will receive an email with your Ground tracking information once your order is processed at the hub.  Shipments typically take 1-3 weeks.

Temperature Controlled: Your order will go out via temperature-controlled freight to the carrier’s hub in your region.  Once your order reaches the hub, the order will go out via temperature-controlled van for last-mile delivery to you.  You will receive an email to schedule your last-mile delivery once the order is processed at the hub.  Shipments typically take 3-5 weeks.

How does Local Same Day delivery work?

At the moment, Local Same Day delivery is only available in the Bay Area.  Orders must be placed by 2pm (pst) for estimated delivery by 5:30pm (pst).  As with all delivery methods, an adult 21+ must be present at the time of delivery.

How will my order be packed?

Great question!  With two exceptions, orders are packed in state-of-the-art foam wine shippers made with ultra-durable, light weight EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) offering unparalleled temperature stability.  All EPS wine packaging shippers are 90% air and made with recycled content. 

The two exceptions: if your delivery method is Local Same Day or Temperature Controlled, your order may go out in original packaging and/or corrugated cardboard.

Can I track my order?

Absolutely.  Please refer to your shipping confirmation email or go to your account settings to see your order history and tracking information.  Please note tracking is not currently available for orders that go out via Temperature Controlled shipment.

Do I need to be home when my order arrives?

All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature requirement.  The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc.  For this reason, we strongly encourage to consider sending to your workplace if you are not typically home during the day.

Do you offer shipping promotions?

We arrange shipping on behalf of our clients at (or below) our cost.  In addition, we are happy to offer one cent shipping on fully In Stock orders over $200 to the Bay Area*, and over $500 to the entire State of California.** Additional promotions may become available in the future, and these promotions may also change.

What is SommPicks' policy on summer (and winter) shipping?

We are happy to offer various shipping options aimed at minimizing the chance of temperature related damage.  However, during periods of extreme heat (or cold), we may hold your order by default until safe shipping is possible (you’ll get an email, don’t worry).  We do this for your benefit and to protect the integrity of your wine, but we understand that sometimes you just can’t wait.  If this is the case, just say the word and we’ll make it happen - however, please understand that if you choose to ship your order against our recommendation, you assume full responsibility for all weather-related damage.

My entire order is In Stock, and temperatures are safe to ship, but I’m not ready to receive it at this time – can you store it for me?

We are happy to offer our members free storage for up to 30 days.  As we are not a storage facility, we ask that you please limit storage to the 30 day period (beyond this time, we charge $10 per case, per month).

What do I do if my tracking number doesn't work?

It can take up to 72 hours for tracking information to register and display the correct ETA.  If your tracking number has not registered within that time, please email us at team@sommpicks.com and we’ll get to the bottom of it.

Can I pick up my order?

SommPicks is an online-only retailer and does not have a traditional “brick and mortar” store.  Unfortunately, because our warehouse is not open to the public, we do not currently have a physical location where you can pick up your order.  This said, we do subsidize the cost of local delivery, so if you live close enough to pick up, hopefully you'll find our shipping rates quite reasonable!
