About Castello di Neive

Occupying a 150-acre estate within the Langhe area of Piedmont, Castello di Neive is a testament to the strategic insights of the Stupino family. With Giacomo Stupino's initiative, the family used their knowledge and surveying expertise to cultivate premier vineyards, a venture that grew from humble beginnings in their family home's small cellars to include expansive land purchases in 1964, including the castle and the vast Santo Stefano and Marcorino farmsteads.

Encompassing 60 hectares, the vineyards of Castello di Neive include Basarin, Cortini, Gallina, Marcorino, Messoirano-Montebertotto, Santo Stefano, and Valtorta, accounting for the entirety of their annual 12,000-case production.

Bolstered by a triad of tradition, research, and creativity, Castello di Neive's philosophy respects the heritage of winemaking while utilizing modern technologies and research, spearheaded by the winemaker Claudio Roggero. Their offerings feature noble grape varietals such as Nebbiolo and Pinot Nero, demonstrating a continuous lineage dating back to the early 20th century, alongside Barbera, Dolcetto, and Grignolino.

Italo Stupino oversees an estate of 65 vine-covered acres, resulting in an annual output of 180,000 bottles. Among these, the Barbaresco Santo Stefano exemplifies the sublime interaction of the Nebbiolo grape with ideal terroir, providing a wine of unparalleled elegance and complexity. The first Barbaresco Cru, in fact, was the Barbaresco Santo Stefano Cru of the 1964 vintage.

Unquestionably, the wines of Castello di Neive, such as the Barbaresco Santo Stefano and the graceful Barbaresco from Gallina vineyard, epitomize the virtues of Piedmont's distinct terroir and the heritage of quality vineyards, reflected in every bottle crafted under the watchful eyes of the Stupino family.
