About Duval-Leroy

Duval-Leroy, a prominent Champagne producer since 1859, holds an esteemed position as one of the few family-owned champagne houses in the region. Carol Duval-Leroy, who took over leadership in 1991, has innovatively transformed the house into a top-tier producer in tandem with her three sons. Duval-Leroy's cellars are based in Vertus, near Epernay, boasting 200 hectares of vineyards, ranking it among the top 10 landowners in Champagne. Key to its enduring quality and style, Duval-Leroy owns plots in all Grand Cru classified villages in the Côte des Blancs.

Cutting-edge techniques complement the use of wooden barrels and biodynamic practices, as well as the re-introduction of nearly extinct grape varieties. The house's signature style elegantly marries floral, citrus and stonefruit notes with a creamy element and ultra-fine bubbles. Their environmental commitments are unparalleled, demonstrated by their pioneering in sustainable viticulture and achieving ISO 9002 certification as early as 1994. Significant reductions in weed killers and water usage, along with investments in renewable energy, are examples of their environmental consciousness.

Duval-Leroy is famous for their Tête de Cuvée, Femme de Champagne, which is an elegant and complex Champagne, crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It boasts delicate bubbles, refined acidity, and flavors of brioche and citrus, owing to an aging process on the lees that typically spans 7 to 10 years.

Carol Duval-Leroy's transformative leadership has extended beyond the boundaries of her house, as evidenced by her becoming the first female chairman of the Association Viticole Champenoise in 2007. Breaking another glass ceiling, she appointed Sandrine Logette-Jardin, a young female winemaker, as head of quality control, who later ascended to the position of Chef de Caves in 2006. Duval-Leroy's distinct charm lies in its sophisticated champagnes that exude class, finesse, and enduring quality, embodying their journey towards innovation and sustainability under Carol Duval-Leroy's transformative stewardship.
