Reviews 92 points Vinous "Deep ruby-red. Cool, vibrant, floral aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, violet and spices. Big, chewy, rich and deep, with cool black fruit and floral flavors similar to the aromas. This has wonderful inner-mouth lift and subtlety. Very long, slow-mounting finish; really opens out on the back. (ST)" 94 points John Gilman "The beautiful and still fairly primary bouquet jumps from the glass in a sappy blend of black cherries, dark plums, a great base of stony soil tones, dark chocolate, a touch of lavender, hints of the autumnal elements to come and a dollop of chicory in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and loaded with sappy fruit at the core, with great balance and suave structural elements. The finish is very, very long, soil-driven and tangy, with ripe, seamless tannins and outstanding grip and focus. While the succulent generosity of fruit here is always going to be one of the defining elements of the wine, at the same time, this is a very transparent and classic expression of Vaucrains that is destined to be one of the reference point vintages for this bottling in the last quarter century. Great juice. (JG)"
