Reviews 91 points Vinous "Deep bright-rimmed ruby. Smoke-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, candied violet and game, along with licorice, olive and camphor notes in the background. Sappy boysenberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors are underscored by a vein of dusty minerality and pick up a salty quality with aeration. The game and licorice notes drive a long, juicy finish framed by firm, building tannins. (JR)" 92 points John Gilman "The nose offers up a fine and youthful mix of red and black raspberries, smoked meats, pepper and a fine base of dark soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite primary, with a fine core, good focus and balance and a long, ripely tannic finish. (JG)"

About Marcel Juge
Marcel Juge's final vintage was the 2015, which showcases the power, layered complexity, and energy that characterizes his wines. His Cornas stand out for their rustic delicacy, leading with fruit and gradually unveiling earthy, spicy, and smoky mineral undertones.
Upon his official retirement in the late '90s, Juge passed most of his vineyards to his daughter, Olga. They continued to craft wine under the Olga Juge label using 80-year-old hillside parcels in Cornas, specifically the lieu-dits of "Champelrose" and "Cayret". Marcel Juge's wines are made using traditional methods, with grapes harvested by hand from steep hillside vineyards, whole cluster fermentation, and a submerged cap during fermentation.
The wines are aged for 18-24 months in old, neutral demi-muids before being bottled without filtration. The result is a gentle rusticity, with earthy, peppery, meaty, and mineral notes buried in a core of deep black fruits. These stunning examples of traditional Northern Rhône wines can be enjoyed upon release, though they also have a remarkable track record for aging.
Juge's vineyards are farmed using organic methods, and his winemaking process has remained consistent for decades. His cellars, located beneath his house in the heart of Cornas, offer a glimpse into Rhône's rich history. As a true icon of the Northern Rhône, Marcel Juge's legacy will endure, as will the extraordinary aging potential of his exquisite wines.
