The Mascot is made from BOND, Promontory, and Harlan's younger vines

About The Mascot

The Mascot has quickly garnered a distinguished reputation among Napa Valley Cabernet enthusiasts for its consistent quality and dangerous drinkability. Initially conceptualized as a family wine shared among close circles, The Mascot has evolved into a prodigious operation, producing over 500 cases annually, with a growing fanbase of dedicated followers.

The brilliance of The Mascot is a testament to the quality of its vineyards and the meticulous craftsmanship of its winemaking process. Will Harlan, son of the renowned vintner Bill Harlan, took over the winery in 2007, using his intuitive understanding of wine to guide production. The Mascot's vineyards are essentially younger offshoots of the eminent hillside vineyards of BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory. This offers a distinct perspective into the evolution of these esteemed estates, encapsulated in each bottle of The Mascot.

Every vintage crafted under The Mascot's label exudes approachability, texture, and vibrancy, demonstrating a fine balance achieved through careful aging before release. This ensures that each bottle delivers immediate gratification yet retains the potential for extended aging.

The wines under The Mascot label began as unnamed, unlabeled blends assembled for the family's enjoyment. Despite their illustrious origins, these wines were initially a hint of the distinct character embodied by each of their grand vins. As the vines reached the appropriate age for inclusion in the blend (typically 7 - 12 years), production increased, resulting in the formation of this standalone project.

The name and label of The Mascot are inspired by the team's shared affection for canines, embodying the qualities of loyalty, energy, perseverance, and heart. This spirit is reflected in each bottle, establishing The Mascot as a unique and worthy representation of Napa Valley Cabernet.
