Reviews 92-94 points Wine Advocate "The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes is superb, wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of warm spices, raspberries, cherries, dark chocolate and candied peel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with the most depth and dimension of Lignier's premiers crus, its deep core of fruit largely concealing the wine's fine-grained structuring tannins, concluding with a saline finish. (WK)" 93 points John Gilman "The bouquet wafts from the glass in a lovely blend of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, venison, coffee, a touch of nutskin, a complex base of soil, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure on the attack and complex, with a fine core, lovely soil signature, fine-grained tannins and a very long, pure and potentially sappy finish. A baby Clos de la Roche this year. (JG)"
About Hubert Lignier
Neil Martin of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate praised the Lignier wines, comparing them to the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy: "pure, sensual, quite intellectual wines... wonderful expression of their terroirs...."
