About Cecile Tremblay

Rooted in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Cécile Tremblay is a beacon of tradition, passion, and potential. Established by Cécile Tremblay in 2003, this winery is the result of her vision to reclaim and revive her family's vineyards, a part of the historical Edouard Jayer estate. Despite initially starting with a modest three-hectare plot, Tremblay's tenacity and early success paved the way for further expansion as the old leases expire.

The wines of Domaine Cécile Tremblay are celebrated for their unique depth and generosity. Their richness of texture and impressionistic style are a testament to Tremblay's winemaking philosophy. Particular highlights include the Echezéaux and Chapelle-Chambertin wines. The former, rooted in the Echézeaux du Dessus climat, exudes an unrivaled depth, attributed to its prime location between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanee. The latter, the Chapelle-Chambertin, is revered for its amalgamation of black fruits, leather, espresso, and floral notes, earning a high score of 96 from The Wine Advocate for the 2021 vintage.

Tremblay's commitment to enhancing her family's viticultural heritage and her impressive winemaking prowess has led to her recognition as one of Burgundy's most talented wine growers. Her journey, from studying enology and viticulture in Dijon to managing the family's vineyards and eventually launching Domaine Cécile Tremblay, is one of dedication and skill.

This estate has quickly garnered international attention, with the wines making their way into the cellars of discerning Burgundy connoisseurs and gracing the wine lists of France's finest restaurants. Initially operating out of a small garage in Vosne-Romanée, Tremblay moved her operation to a modern winery in Morey-Saint-Denis in 2013, conveniently located next to the restaurant Castel de Très Girard.

The wines of Domaine Cécile Tremblay are derived from a small but meticulously curated range of appellations, with holdings in some of the finest vineyards in Burgundy. The domaine's offerings include exceptional cuvées from Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, and the Grand Cru vineyards of Chapelle-Chambertin and Echézeaux du Dessus.

When Tremblay took over in 2002, the vineyards were weary from the excessive use of chemical products. Committed to preserving biodiversity, she embarked on a path towards biodynamic management, securing organic certification for the domaine in 2005 and biodynamic certification in 2016.

In the cellar, the grapes undergo a strict sorting process both in the vineyards and upon arrival at the cellar. This is followed by a decision on whether to de-stem based on the specific conditions of the vintage. The wines are then aged for 12 to 18 months in carefully selected barrels, each chosen to complement the individual cuvées.

Domaine Cécile Tremblay is renowned for producing wines that beautifully merge historical lineage and personal vision. With her continued devotion to the craft, Tremblay is establishing her unique imprint in the revered world of Burgundy winemaking.
