Reviews 90-92 points Burghound "A decidedly earthy nose freely offers up ripe and very fresh red pinot aromas laced with underbrush and sauvage wisps. The sleek, punchy and beautifully well-detailed medium-bodied flavors display fine length on the mildly austere finale that flirts with rusticity. (AM)"

About Domaine Bruno Clavelier

Domaine Bruno Clavelier is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. Bruno Clavelier is a talented fifth-generation winemaker who produces some of the finest and most sophisticated wines in the region. The winery possesses 6.5 hectares of vineyards spread across Côte de Nuits. These vineyards are comprised of the Grand Cru, Corton Le Rognet, and Premier Cru locations such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits Saint Georges.

Bruno is a pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming, which he has practiced since the 1990s, well before it became popular. The vineyards, comprising mostly traditional Pinot Noir Fin, are hand-selected from the best vineyards and have been farmed without chemicals or potassium fertilizers for over a century. The domaine has been certified organic since 2005, and the vines are naturally low-yielding, with the oldest planted in the 1930s and 1940s.

The wines are produced with minimal intervention and the utmost respect for the vineyards’ terroir. Fermentation takes place in oak open-top fermenters with up to 30% whole cluster. Indigenous yeast allows for fermentations to start naturally and with manual punch downs. After a gentle pneumatic pressing, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 16-18 months (30% new for 1er Cru and Grand Cru, and less for village level). The wines are bottled without fining or filtration, and the bottling happens under a neutral gas so that the amount of SO2 can be as low as possible.

Bruno's passion for winemaking is evident in every bottle, from his Village-level wines to his Grand Crus. He has truly perfected the art of capturing the essence of each plot and vintage in his wines, making them stand out as truly exceptional and worth collecting and drinking.
