Reviews 93 points Wine Advocate "The 2019 Morgon Corcelette is perfumed and expressive, bursting with aromas of plums, raspberries, violets, smoke and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with melting tannins, lively acids and an expansive finish, it's fresh, vibrant and full of charm. (WK)" 94 points Vinous "Saturated magenta. Expressive aromas of red and dark fruit preserves, star anise and potpourri pick up a smoky mineral topnote with air. Juicy and energetic in the mouth, offering concentrated raspberry and cherry liqueur, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors supported by a core of smoky minerality. At once powerful and lithe, finishing on a gently tannic note with superb, floral- and mineral-driven tenacity. (JR)"

About Jean Foillard

As a winemaker, Jean Foillard is known for producing exceptional Gamay wines that break the mold of traditional Beaujolais. He has earned a reputation as the Morgon Master and Fleurie's finest, but we refer to him as Beaujolais' Benchmark.

Located at the peak of Cote du Py, the most famed slope in Morgon, Jean Foillard's family vineyards are considered some of the best terroirs in Beaujolais. He has also expanded his holdings into Fleurie's top lieux dits: Grille-Midi and La Madone. The combination of prime terroir and Jean's winemaking techniques results in truly exceptional wines.

At Jean Foillard, the winemaking process is focused on showcasing the unique character of the terroir and the grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested at the peak of ripeness, and are carefully sorted to ensure only the best grapes are used. The grapes are then fermented using native yeasts, and are fermented with whole clusters, which adds complexity and depth to the wines. Once the fermentation is completed, the wines are aged in neutral oak barrels for an extended period, allowing the wines to develop and gain complexity. Jean Foillard believes in minimal intervention, and the wines are bottled unfiltered and without any chaptalization or sulfur addition, thus preserving the natural character of the grapes and the terroir.
