Nestled between the Loire and Thouet rivers in the prestigious Saumur-Champigny appellation, the vineyards of Domaine Pierre-Adrien Vadé, a third-generation vintner, provide a canvas for truly remarkable wines. Cultivated on a clay-limestone soil enriched with tuffeau, a distinctive chalk of the Loire Valley known for its heat-storing ability and excellent moisture regulation, his 35 hectares of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc vines have been transitioning to organic farming since 2015.
Each of Vadé's plots is treated distinctively, with different vinification methods: some mature in barrels, others in vats, using naturally occurring yeasts.
