About Domaine Francois Lamarche

Domaine Francois Lamarche is a historic Burgundy wine producer based in Vosne-Romanée and Clos Vougeot, with vineyards dating back to 1797. The estate has a total surface area of almost 28 acres and produces fourteen different wines, including La Grande Rue, a monopole of the estate and one of the rare grand crus of Vosne-Romanée. The vineyards are planted on soils composed of a mixture of oolite and limestone containing iron, with stony, rocky, or clay-marl subsoil, which produces full-bodied and well-structured wines with deep color and excellent aging capacity.

Under the leadership of sixth-generation winemaker Nicole Lamarche, the estate has reestablished its reputation as one of the stars of Vosne-Romanée. She has adopted integrated viticulture for all vineyards, meticulously managing each plot to express both the terroir and history of the estate. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted in both the vineyard and the winery, and the amount of new oak used has been reduced to create a fragrant, elegant, and refined style of Burgundy.

While most of their vineyards are notable, including Grand Crus Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux, and Grands Echezeaux, it’s their single vineyard Grand Cru, La Grande Rue, that really sets them apart. This vineyard lies between La Tâche and La Romanée-Conti and is the second smallest Grand Cru in the Cote d’Or. La Grande Rue has been described as a "hedonistic and luxuriant delight, (NM)" offering a unique experience for collectors and wine enthusiasts alike. In addition to their Pinot Noir, the estate produces a small range of Chardonnay and Aligoté in their village and Bourgogne level holdings. The Lamarche family's dedication to quality and heritage has cemented their place as one of Burgundy's most notable wine producers.
