Reviews 92 points Wine Advocate "The 2022 Fleurie Lieu-dit 'Champ*gne' Cuvee Vieilles Vignes stands out among the range for its concentration of flavor, a marker of the year in combination with the influence of the 70- to 100-year-old low-yielding vines. The vineyard is on the southeastern edge of Fleurie and is noteworthy for its thin-to-nonexistent topsoils. The wine unfurls in the glass with aromas of stewed raspberries, currants, cherry blossoms and lilac petals, with warm baking spices to accompany. The flavors are enriched on the palate, taking on a preserved fruit essence, cut with undertones of a slate-like minerality and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the sappy concentration of fruit is lifted by a line of ripe acids and chalky tannins, breaking up the mouthfeel with a line of pleasant tension... (KW)" 92 points Vinous "The cunningly named 2022 Fleurie Champ*gne Cuvee Vieilles Vignes (no guessing which region issued a complaint!) comes from the shallowest soils, where the mother rock is exposed in some places. Aged in barrels and one demi-muid for eight months, this has a bouquet similar to the Le Clos, but just a little more floral. This is very well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, almost chalky tannins. This Fleurie is full of tension and mineralite, taut and quite linear toward the finish. It's delicious, but it also provides an intellectual angle. (NM)"
