Reviews 90 points Vinous "...has a lively bouquet with more yellow fruit than the other cuvees and touches of beeswax that develop in the glass. The palate is poised on the entry, lightly spiced with impressive harmony, a fluid Vire-Clesse with a persistent finish. (NM)" 93 points John Gilman "The underlying chalky minerality of the Vire-Clesse bottling from Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon is always one of the signature elements of the wine, and when this is coupled with the absolutely beautiful fruit of the 2023 vintage, one gets a superb bottle. The bouquet here is very lovely, as it wafts from the glass in a mix of apple, pear, almond, spring flowers, vanillin oak and a beautifully complex foundation of limestone. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, complex and seamlessly balanced, with a fine core of fruit, zesty acids and lovely complexity on the long and soil-driven finish. (JG)"

Dominique Lafon of Domaine des Comtes Lafon in the vineyard

About Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon

Burgundy aficionados need no introduction to Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Now into its fourth generation with Dominique Lafon leading the charge, this historic estate has spent the last 30 years climbing to the top - earning its title as “the world’s best producer of white wine” (Decanter Magazine).

When Dominique took over in 1984, the vineyard holdings were spread across Meursault, Volnay, Monthélie, and Puligny-Montrachet, with most under contract. But once those agreements expired, this tour de force got to work. He took complete control back of the vineyards, implemented organic and biodynamic practices, and built a respected reputation for honoring the terroir of each vineyard. Best known for his whites, these wines range from round and seductive to robust and serious, to a signature finesse in his Montrachet Grand Cru.

Ever since Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate declared, “Dominique Lafon is on fire, in a zone, on top of his game. He’s never made better wines, and he improves with each passing vintage,” collectors worldwide have been jumping at the opportunity to acquire these prized bottlings.
