About Stephane Regnault

Stéphane Regnault, an exceptional Champagne vigneron, is transforming the face of wine production with a unique blend of modern innovation and traditional reverence for terroir. A former aerospace engineer and sommelier in top-tier restaurants, Regnault returned to his family's domaine in Côte des Blancs in 2007 and became the first in his lineage to produce estate-made wines.

Stemming from the celebrated Grand Cru villages of Oger and Le Mesnil, the family's four hectares of Chardonnay unfold over three unique parcels: Chemin de Flavigny in Oger, Moulin on the Oger-Le Mesnil border, and Hautes-Mottes in Le Mesnil. Regnault's single-vineyard, multi-vintage cuvées encapsulate the distinct personality of each site, meticulously curated year on year in a perpetual solera system.

The vineyard's age span, predominantly between 40 and 60 years, further enhances the wines' complexity. Meanwhile, Regnault's transition to organic farming in 2007 and subsequent organic certification in 2020 ensure a respectful relationship with the land and vines, resulting in wines that exude vibrancy and depth.

The Dorien No 45 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut, sourced from the Hautes-Mottes vineyard, is a certified organic masterpiece that symbolizes Regnault's innovation and commitment to organic farming. Crafted predominantly from the base vintage of 2016, with added reserve wines from 2015 and 2014, the cuvée is fermented naturally and undergoes malolactic fermentation. Aging on lees for almost four years contributes to a sophisticated profile. The Dorien No 45 embodies its terroir, the southern exposition, and the vines' age, some dating back to the 1950s.

The Lydien Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut displays a beautiful interplay between tradition and modernity. It comes from Le Chemin de Flavigny, whose vines are between 35-50 years old, rooted in light chalky soils. Fermentation and aging are carried out one-third in used barrels and two-thirds in stainless steel tanks, adding to its complex character. Lydien is particularly noted for its fruity notes, making it stand out among Regnault's cuvées.

Lastly, Chromatique NV, a biodynamic wine, provides a comprehensive snapshot of Regnault's vineyard holdings. It draws from every parcel in his cellar, reflecting the chromatic scale in music that uses all available notes. This 100% Chardonnay cuvée is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and used barrels, with malolactic fermentation following the natural course. The Chromatique is known for its immediate, rich profile, offering a full-bodied experience of Regnault's winemaking craft.

Together, these cuvées encapsulate Stéphane Regnault's philosophy: a dedication to respecting and showcasing the terroir, a commitment to organic and biodynamic practices, and a distinct, modern touch to Champagne making. These wines represent a unique facet of the vineyards, making them all the more remarkable and collectible.
